Eshom Valley Cemetery

This cemetery is way up the hills by Badger, CA. We had a lovely drive up to find it. We had to stop and ask someone to make sure we were going to the right place since there really isn't a record of it anywhere--no gps coordinates or address. I am sending in the coordinates to the Find A Grave Site. We did find it and it was absolutely a beautiful place. The cemetery overlooks what we figure is Eshom Valley with a small pond/lake on the floor of the valley. Your B.G. Dunn is right on the row closest to the overlook of the valley. (We thought a nice place!)

We forgot to bring water with us and the water had not been turned on yet. We think maybe if the headstone was wet it would be clearer and easier to read. Maybe you can use your photo editing software to sharpen the engraving.

This is a 'distance' picture for you. You can see that he is on the last row in the older section of the cemetery. There are two small sections to the cemetery. We were so sad when we didn't find him at first and then my husband just happened to look down a small slope and see a group of more graves. Besides, the area we were searching were too recent! We both breathed a sigh of relief!

I took this picture so that you could see the perspective and some of the cemetery. If you count over from the right on the row closest to the top of the picture, your ancestor is the 4th one from the right in the sunlight.

This is a picture from where his grave is and the overlook into the valley.

We took this picture of the road sign that points to the cemetery. It's not quite as interesting as the wooden sign.

Here is a picture of the valley and the road that leads to the cemetery. The cemetery is more than a mile down that road and you can't see the cemetery from the entrance. Hope you enjoy these pics. If you click on them you will get the full size pictures of them. You have my permission to use them as you wish.

All-Time Favorites: Amon and Sally Pratt

Here's a picture of my favorite headstones of all time. Most of my life I researched for the parents of Emily Jeanette Pratt--Amon and Sally. And here they are! To be able to visit this cemetery and take this picture was really an unbelievable experience! I never thought I would be able to do this. Kent and I had a wonderful trip to multiple cemeteries, courthouses and libraries. It is going to take me all summer to upload all the information! And to think we lived 2 hours from here for 6 years while Kent got his Ph.D.! Who knew! It would be 10 years later that I finally found Emily's parents!

Visalia Cemetery: Chivers - Griswold

If you click on the picture you will get the full size picture I took. I also uploaded them to the Find A Grave site. I did not find William Bentley Chivers. They looked for him in their database and could not find him. He is most likely buried somewhere else or was cremated and immured elsewhere. The Visalia Times Delta has an obituary for him on May 5th, 1999 that may give the information. Also, there were flowers on all of those graves, so I am assuming there is family in the area that may have more information.
